Kasia joined LNCS in April 2026. With nearly a decade of experience providing administrative support across multiple departments at Virginia Tech, Kasia built a career rooted in organization, collaboration, and service. Before entering higher education, she served as Director of the Blacksburg Children’s Museum, where she helped strengthen a young nonprofit and expand hands-on learning opportunities for families in the community.

Long before her professional path took shape, Kasia discovered that sailing was her life’s passion. Her dad taught her to sail on a small centerboard boat he built in their backyard, along with the unforgettable thrill of capsizing in the cold lakes of northern Poland. Throughout high school, she spent most of her free time sailing on the Baltic and North Seas, eventually earning her skipper certifications.

Kasia's sailing journey has carried her from European waters to the Chesapeake Bay, Pamlico Sound, and stretches of the U.S. East Coast. She raced for two years in Annapolis and, since 2020, has been a regular on the starting line at Lake Norman after joining LNCS and later LNYC.

Kasia is a proud mom of two amazing sailing teens, Iza and Lilly, who have been around boats since preschool. Together, the family is excited to share their love of sailing with the Lake Norman community and help introduce more people—young and adult—to this incredible sport.

Christy has been at LNCS since April of 2012 when she moved from Atlanta to the Charlotte area. She attended Auburn University where she became an avid sports fan, but her sailing education did not begin until much later. She has worked in customer service and office management for most of her career, beginning with large corporations then finding her interest to be working with small, service-oriented businesses in a non-traditional, fun environment. Growing up in a small town in Alabama, she was not exposed to sailing until she took a trip to the BVI with her now husband, Joe. Not only did she discover a love of sailing on that trip, but she came home engaged.

Since that time, Joe and Christy have chartered sailboats in the BVIs, St. Lucia, the Leeward Islands, the French West Indies, Eastern Europe and the South Pacific. They have introduced many friends to the sport of sailing over the years. Christy also loves hiking, traveling, pickleball, being outdoors, and spending time with her adopted Australian Shephard, Tootsie.
