Covid Update

We are eager to get everyone back on the water, which we believe is a physically and mentally healthy activity…good for morale as well as the immune system. While we wait at the edge of our seats for the conditions for re-opening, we ask you to share the word about our great facility and its benefits to a healthy society. Many people need desperately to reconnect with others. They need to get outside. More than ever, I believe LNCS can play a major role is helping our community. Pass the word.

When will LNCS open?

The short answer is we’re not sure, but we’re hoping in the next couple weeks (maybe as early as May 8th at 5pm). There is a statewide framework in place for reopening businesses that will help determine our opening date. Our plans will adhere to state guidelines and may also be affected by some county rules and timelines. I am of course in contact with our Board of Directors; we are trying to develop a plan for re-opening.

What are the North Carolina State Guidelines for opening?

The North Carolina state guidelines for re-opening detail a three phase process.

The state is under mandatory Stay-at-Home order until at least May 8th at which point they will determine whether to extend the order.

Phase 1, which allows for some non-essential travel and some non-essential businesses to reopen may start as early as May 9th.

Phase 2, which allows restaurants to open dining rooms and gatherings of groups of up to 50 people, will depend on the success of Phase 1. There will need to be two weeks of downward trend in Covid-19 case numbers to go to the next phase.

Phase 3 will further relax restrictions on gathering and is expected at least 4-6 weeks after Phase 2.

See the state rules in full on the official website here.

What additional precautions will LNCS be taking to ensure the safety of staff and guests?

When we do get the go-ahead to open our doors, there are a few things that we’ll be doing.

  • We’ll have disinfectant for frequent treatment of equipment and common areas.

  • Common surfaces will be disinfected.
  • We will follow all required social distancing practices as proscribed, i.e. 6 ft. of separation, no groups of more than 10.
  • We will strongly encourage that payments be made online. The drop box on the back porch will also be helpful.
  • We will encourage people to bring their own life jackets.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for your patience.
