COVID-19 Procedures & Policy Changes

Good afternoon LNCS Members and potential Members,

The Coronavirus has caused us to update our policies, at least for the next couple weeks. The changes discussed here pertain to LNCS operations through March. At that time, I'll come out with more guidance, if not sooner as the situation develops.

First, I'm going to ask people to simply calm down. We're facing a serious challenge - not the first one and it won't be the last - but it is not made any better or easier by irrational or unkind behavior.

And to be clear, the actions we're taking are voluntary and common sense based. We are a community (it says so right in our name), and we are all about taking prudent steps in light of the facts known to protect ourselves - our members, our staff, our families, our friends. Down below you will see links that may offer guidance on how to best protect yourself and others.

LNCS Policy changes for the period March 17 - 31st:CLUBHOUSE: Nobody but staff will be allowed in the clubhouse for any reason. Public restrooms are located near the public ramps (Exception: ASA training/testing will be allowed in the back classroom).

SOCIAL SAILS:
Maximum 10 participants
Must sign up via the RSVP signup sheet
Must answer a short questionnaire upon arrival
Must not have any flu-like symptoms
Must not have had recent exposure to high risk areas of the US or overseas
Must observe 6-foot rule
Brief outside near dock

BYOH - bring your own hand-sanitizer for the tiller extension

ASA CLASSES: Classes are being handled on a case by case basis. So far, we've moved one student to a later date.

MACKENBRI: No changes. Use common sense. Avoid sailing with people you don't know.

OPEN SAILING: No big changes. In fact, we believe getting outside, getting some fresh air and sunlight is good for the immune system and morale...and is consistent with the precautions put forth by the experts. Take common sense precautions as you normally would.

STAY TUNED: Additional changes are likely in the future and we will keep all members updated as needed.

RESOURCES: Everyone is now an expert on everything, thanks to the internet. But here are a few websites where current information can be found. Please remember to use individual discretion and common sense in making participation decisions during this time.

Like all of you we look forward to returning to normal operations as soon as possible and prudent. And with so many adults and kids home from work and school, I expect there will be a serious need for people to get out and enjoy themselves very soon. So please do tell a friend about LNCS, and plan to invite them sailing in the near future. Until then, buy/renew your memberships and enjoy the best community sailing facility I've ever seen.
